About Us
A Brief History
River Valley Literacy Council Inc. is the new name for the Franklin Logan County Literacy Council. We were given the opportunity to expand our services to include: Johnson County, Pope County, and Yell County. So as you can see, we needed a name we could keep no matter how much we grow. We are excited about serving these additional communities and look forward to helping each community. Our roots go back to 1988 when a small literacy council known as Aux Arc Literacy first began. There was one mission in mind then and that was to help people learn to read or improve their reading skills. Somewhere along the way our name was changed to Franklin County Literacy Council and in 2008 we merged with Logan County, and our mission remained the same. It has been our joy and honor to help enhance peoples lives through literacy. We are embarking on a great undertaking with our latest expansion, but we are confident that we are up to the task. Who We Are: River Valley Literacy Council currently has 6 board Members. Each member has a unique set of talents and insights.
